Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers (PFHBiPM) is the only legal representative of dairy cattle breeders in Poland

      Timetable

      • On 12 March 1995, PFHBiPM was established as a result of the grass-roots movement of cattle breeders and milk producers.
      • On 1 July 2004, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development authorises PFHBiPM herd books for dairy cattle.
      • On 1 July 2006, the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers in Warsaw undertook the tasks related to the evaluation of the useful value of cattle.
      • On 1 July 2007, the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers in Warsaw undertook the tasks related to the evaluation of the type and body build of primiparas and dairy cattle.
      • On 1 July 2008, a group of nutritional consultants was established.
      • On 10 December 2010, the ICAR certificate was received.
      • On 1 April 2011, the online Hodowca (breeder) application was implemented, which was a progenitor of the Stado On-Line herd management application.
      • On 1 July 2012, the introduction of advisory services in the selection of parental couples.
      • On April 1, 2013, we are the first in the world to determine subclinical ketosis.
      • 1 March 2015, the Cattle Genetics Laboratory was launched.
      • 1 April 2016, establishment of the Genetic Centre in Poznań.
      • December 2019, implementation of the Economic Index.

      Who we are

      • We are an independent, voluntary and self-governing nationwide organisation.
      • Our structures have over 11 000 members associated in 21 regional and breeds’ unions. These are individual breeders, state farms, state-owned and private companies, cooperative and leased farms.

      Mission

      • Taking up strategic operations connected with cattle breeding and milk production.

      Main tasks

      • Conducting an evaluation of the useful value of dairy and meat-dairy cattle or breeding cattle.
      • Keeping the herd books and breeding documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.
      • Running milk analysis laboratories.
      • Publishing the results of the evaluation of the useful value or breeding value of cattle.
      • Running an IT system for the purposes of evaluation of the useful and breeding value of cattle.
      • Conducting specialised professional training for persons performing the evaluation of the useful value and issuing appropriate certificates in this regard.
      • Organizing activities, which ensure the implementation of modern methods in the area of cattle breeding and milk production.
      • Development and implementation of regional and countrywide breeding programs.
      • Organisation of exhibitions, shows and seminars.
      • Making selections at the request of breeders in the evaluated herds, making recommendations regarding the renovation of the herd, breeding selection and cattle classification.
      • Use of subsidies for biological progress in programs approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
      • Conducting commercial and service of milk quality assessment.
      • Conducting a milk recording for breeding purposes.
      • Conducting consulting and training activities.
      • Animal genotyping.
